How to Become an Inviting Church - April 29 & May 6

Car Wash Fundraiser - April 29
Our youth will hold a car wash fundraiser on Sunday, April 29 from 10 AM until 12:30 PM in front of the Parish Center near the Chapel and Preschool entrances to raise money for this summer's Youth Mission Trip to the Dominican Republic. SUVs are $15; cars $10. Please come support our youth and our ministry of global missions!
Easter Lessons & Carols - April 29
Join us on Sunday, April 29 at 5 PM in the Church for a Service of Easter Lessons & Carols. Led by the Christ Church Choir, this service brings together many traditional elements of Christian worship in celebration of the resurrection of our Lord. Through readings, carols, and congregational hymns, the service recalls the prophecies and events leading up to and following Jesus' resurrection and concludes by looking forward to the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Bruce Neswick, Canon for Cathedral Music at Trinity Cathedral in Portland, Oregon, will be the guest conductor for this service.
Christ Church Episcopal Preschool's Annual Gala & Auction - May 4
CCEP's Annual Gala will take place on Friday, May 4 from 6:30 to 9:30 PM, with an "Audrey and Elvis" theme. Please plan to join us for a celebratory evening of music, great food and drink, lively bidding on our silent and live auction items, and a guaranteed good time. All proceeds benefit the preschool and allow us to offer the finest early childhood education in the area. CCEP has made 20 free tickets available to parishioners. Elder Visitation Ministry Training - May 5
The Elder Visitation Team is seeking volunteers to strengthen our ministry. We are looking for individuals who have time in their schedule once a month to visit members of our parish who are ill or unable to attend church regularly. Our mission is to provide prayer, compassion, and fellowship to our homebound parishioners, allowing them to feel engaged in our church family through regular visits. We are offering a three-part training for those interested in this ministry beginning on Saturday, May 5 from 8:30 to 11 AM in Room 211/212. This training is helpful as well for those with family or friends who are losing their independence and dealing with loneliness. Life at Christ Church Series - May 8, 15, 22, & 29
Do you want to learn more about Christ Church or about Christianity? Are you considering becoming a member of this worshiping community or want to be Confirmed or Received into the Episcopal Church? If so, then this is the class for you! This is the preparation for adult confirmation and reception into the Church, when Bishop Brown makes his visitation here on June 3. Ascension Day Service - May 10
Ascension Day is one of the principal feasts of the Church and is traditionally celebrated on the fortieth day of Easter. Please join us on Thursday, May 10 at 7 PM in the Church for a special celebration to commemorate the bodily Ascension of Jesus into heaven.
Movie Matinée: Risen - May 11
Join us this Easter season on Friday, May 11 from 2 to 4 PM in Parish Hall B for a matinée showing of the movie Risen. This epic Biblical story of the Resurrection is told through the eyes of a non-believer. Clavius (Joseph Fiennes), a powerful Roman military tribune, and his aide, Lucius (Tom Felton), are tasked with solving the mystery of what happened to Jesus (Cliff Curtis) in the weeks following the crucifixion in order to disprove the rumors of a risen Messiah and prevent an uprising in Jerusalem. Friday Night Bites - May 11
Our final Friday Night Bites of the program year takes place on Friday, May 11 from 6 to 8 PM in Parish Hall B. This month we are celebrating Cinco de Mayo (a few days late). If you want to participate in the fun, please bring your favorite Mexican dish to share. Beverages will be provided. All contributions are welcome (appetizers, salads, or desserts), but main dishes are much appreciated. Come and unwind with fellow parishioners and enjoy an evening of food and fun with friends, new and old. Entertainment will be provided for your little ones.
Choral Evensong - May 13
Treat your mom on Mother's Day by bringing her to church to hear beautiful choral music! Come enjoy Choral Evensong for the Seventh Sunday of Easter on Sunday, May 13 at 5 PM in the Church. Led by the Christ Church Choir and Clergy, the service will include the Phos hilaron, David Schelat; Responses, Bernard Rose; Evening Canticles in A, Herbert Sumsion; and the anthem, As Truly as God is Our Father, William Mathias. David Schelat, Director of Music at First & Central Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, will play a 30-minute organ prelude beginning at 4:30 PM. A special reception will be held on the lawn following the service. Please join us!
Golf Outing at the DuPont Country Club - May 17
This year's Christ Church Golf Outing will be held at the DuPont Country Club (the DuPont Course) on Thursday, May 17 starting at 12:30 PM. The cost is $100 for non-members and $30 for members and includes green fees, a golf cart, and prizes. It will be a team scramble, and afterward we will gather outside on the terrace to award prizes and the coveted Rector's Cup. Click here to RSVP or send a check, made payable to Christ Church, to P. Parish Day Annual Meeting - May 20
Our Parish Day Annual Meeting will take place on Sunday, May 20. On that day we will have two services at 8 and 9 AM. Following the 9 AM service, we will process to the Parish Center where youth and adults will gather in the Parish Halls for the 170th annual meeting of our parish and a celebration of our many blessings, while 3-year-olds through 4th grade children will go to the Chapel for a program of their very own. Lunch for all will be served at 11:45. Please join us for this important day in the life of our parish!
