Wills and Planned Gifts

Faith Living Still

The Legacy Society is a stewardship program designed to celebrate the lives of those who have faithfully remembered Christ Church Christiana Hundred through a financial instrument or bequest.  Legacy giving is a different form of stewardship.  We count on members for annual giving to enable God’s work through the Church in the present day. There are times we are called to make special contributions for a building project or a new ministry in a capital campaign.  Legacy giving is a planned gift.  It expands our endowment and anticipates our future with gifts of a lifetime like:

  • bequests in a will or trust
  • life insurance
  • retirement assets
  • charitable remainder trusts

You can make a difference and continue our mission.  We are richly blessed by past gifts given here to the glory of God and for the work of the church.  Several legacy gifts were received in the first 80 years of our ministry.  For example, in 1861 our Sunday School was endowed.  Our ministry of music for worship has been blessed with gifts that support the organ and vocalists in the Christ Church Choir.  Small bequests have been received for parish operations like our lay pension fund and special property maintenance.

How Would You Like to be Remembered?

  • a fund for global youth mission?
  • endow a theologian in residence or fund for leadership in ministry?
  • the advancement of green technology?
  • alternative media to reach younger generations?
  • expand the umbrella of fellowship within and beyond our community?
  • preserve our buildings and grounds for generations to come?

How to Join the Legacy Society

  • Contact the rector to discuss an end of life plan, including a gift of your worldly blessings as an expression of your continuing stewardship, the management of the resources God has entrusted to you.
  • Through the Episcopal Church Foundation, you will be provided every opportunity to clearly understand the various options for donation, all aspects of program administration, and the potential for tax advantages that may apply to a gift. Episcopal Church Foundation reference materials are available through ECF directly by clicking here.
