Clergy are trained as pastoral and spiritual counselors and are available to all members for counseling in emergencies and/or discussion around various life issues.  Clergy routinely call on parishioners in hospitals; however, it is essential that members of their families let the clergy know about a hospitalization.  Clergy are not psychological therapists, and individual counseling is limited.  If additional counseling is needed, they can assist with referrals to other community agencies and clinicians.
