In the fall, weekly Coffee Hour for adults is held in Parish Hall C from 10 to 11 AM. Come and greet friends and newcomers, or just grab a cup of coffee on your way to an Adult Ed class.
Our "traditional" Coffee Hour takes place on the first Sunday of each month for all ages, when the children and youth join in for juice and cookies. There are no classes held on that day for children or adults. This is a wonderful venue for parishioners to gather and greet one another, to catch up with old friends, welcome new members, or interest someone in a volunteer project that excites you. See you there!
Beginning in June, Lemonade on the Lawn takes place every Sunday, weather permitting. Join us outside for lemonade and cookies during the summer months.
If you would like more information or to volunteer for a Sunday, please fill out this contact form.
Coffee Hour Features Simnel Cakes for Mothering Sunday - March 14
In England, the Fourth Sunday in Lent is known as Mothering Sunday. Traditionally, the servants of the great estates would be released on this day to return home and attend church with their families. Servant girls would be permitted to bake simnel cakes to take to their mothers. The word Simnel is derived from the Latin word “simila,” a fine wheat flour. There are many recipes for simnel cakes, and some are decorated with eleven marzipan balls to represent Christ’s disciples, minus Judas. Our version is made with currants, almonds, orange zest, and spices. We invite you to stop by Coffee Hour on March 14 on your way to Adult Enrichment to sample this traditional English treat.
