Brandywine Pastoral Institute

Cathedral Choir School of Delaware
Volunteer opportunities include being a mentor or tutor to a youth as they prepare for college, facilitating leadership development workshops for youth, helping the Choir School to conduct an evaluation of its leadership development program on the youth who participate, and helping to organize the Annual Chorister Recognition and Promotion Banquet that occurs in June.  Call 654-6279.

Chemo-Care, Inc.
Volunteers can be placed through the social workers network at A. I. du Pont and The Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children.  Volunteers can deliver gift certificates or assist in raising funds to increase the number of certificates available to children.  Call 656-1980.

Children’s Beach House, Inc. 
Volunteers are needed to mentor campers in reading, writing, arts, crafts, and nature activities at the Lewes, Delaware location.  Call 655-4288.

Delaware Adolescent Program, Inc. 
Volunteer opportunities are available for Board members and advisors in financial and legal matters.  Call 764-9740.

Delaware Center for Justice, Inc.
Delaware Center for Justice operates a variety of programs where mentoring and other volunteer opportunities exist.  Christ Church Outreach supports Project Reach, where staff and volunteers help incarcerated mothers build good parenting and life skills and maintain a bond with their children.  Call 658-7174.

Delaware Futures, Inc. 
Tutors and mentors are needed on Tuesdays from 6 to 8 PM.  Meeting presenters and internship sponsors--professional, business, and nonprofit placements are also sought.  Call 652-8619.

Delaware Guidance Services for Children & Youth, Inc.
Volunteers can help identify resources, organize supportive drives such as holiday food or clothing supports, develop a “flex fund” to be used to further particular goals of a family in treatment (i.e., pay for a YMCA membership or tutoring services), and assist in the areas of development and outreach.  Call 652-3948.

Delaware Hospice
Patient/family support, volunteers for Camp New Hope, community education, special events, and office support is needed.  Call 478-5707.

Exceptional Care for Children
Volunteers are needed to read to children, assist with activities, provide administrative help, and serve as garden crew.  Call 894-1001.

First State School Program 
First State School seeks one-on-one mentors as well as general classroom volunteers.  Also, volunteers are needed with unique areas of knowledge, skill, and interest to do presentations that expand the learning process.  Call 428-5858.

Friendship House
Volunteers can participate in this ministry in several ways:  Clothing Bank – clothes delivery and administrative help; Breakfast Program – prepare, serve, and share breakfast several times a year; and Dinner Program – prepare, serve, and share dinner several times a year.  Call 652-8133.

Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County 
Volunteers over 16 are always welcome on site to help build houses on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.  Support services including greeting, lunch preparation, and committee members for selection/family support are also needed.  Call 652-0365.

HIS Mission
Help is needed in the facility in Kennett Square, painting, doing odd jobs, and providing used furniture, drapes, sheets, and blankets.  Call (610) 444-2559.

Interfaith Housing Delaware, Inc. 
Volunteer opportunities include Board membership, committee membership, clerical assistance, and help with beautification and landscaping projects.  Call 995-7408.

Latin American Community Center
The LACC always needs adult tutors for English-as-a-second-language classes as well as after-school homework helpers for children in Kindergarten through Grade 12 and volunteers for summer camp.  Call 655-7338.

Literacy Volunteers Serving Adults 
Volunteers are needed to help with public relations and fund-raising committees.  Volunteer tutors and volunteers for special events such as the Race for Literacy and the Scrabble Spellebration are also needed.  Call 658-5624.

The Mary Campbell Center
Volunteer support is welcome in many areas, including: friendly visitors, educational tutors, swimming pool assistants, game/activities and field trip escorts.  Call 762-6025.

Operation Warm, Inc.

Project Stay Free

Ronald McDonald House of Delaware
Volunteer opportunities include Family volunteers, Reception volunteers, and Special Events volunteers.  Also, groups can bring food to the house or prepare dinner for those who are staying there.  Call 656-4847.
St. Francis Foundation
The hospital has an active volunteer program which manages the gift shop and provides families with patient information and patient escort.  The Foundation Committee is especially interested in having parishioners join their committee.  Call 575-8261.

St. Michael’s School and Nursery, Inc. 
Numerous opportunities for volunteers include classroom help, cooking projects, office help, sharing a talent such as painting or gardening, and committee/Board membership.  Call 656-3389.

Survivors of Abuse in Recovery, Inc. (SOAR)
