Outreach
Global Missions Team

The mission of the Outreach Global Missions is to provide an avenue for parishioners to live out the Baptismal Covenant as stated in our Vision Statement. Global mission activities are not new to the Christ Church community. Throughout the years, parishioners have been involved with missionary work personally and corporately. Our hope as the Leadership Team is to seek out opportunities that will encourage intergenerational participation at a variety of levels and in a variety of ways.

Members of the Global Missions Team are:

  • Tom Scott, Convener
  • Steve Brodt
  • Sandy Durgin
  • Margaretta Frederick
  • Lee Glen
  • Chuck Kelly
  • Valerie and Al Mascitti
  • Cathy Parsells
  • Gina Pike
  • John Taylor
  • Maryann and Kris Younger

Our Relationship with the Dominican Republic

In November of 2001, the Global Missions Team was invited to explore a mutual mission opportunity with the Episcopal Diocese of the Dominican Republic via The Reverend Canon Ricardo Potter. Father Potter is a retired priest with an outstanding record of service within the Episcopal Church and worldwide, whose goal is to build a community center which will house a home and school for children outside the city of Santo Domingo. We have accepted Father Potter’s invitation to partner with him and his community and have led numerous Family and Youth Work Camps there. Much good work has been done in the village of Jalonga, and additional Camps are being planned.

Our next trip is for the youth who will travel to the DR from June 16-23, 2012.
