Grades 6 & 7

Exploring Our Faith & Who We Are in Christ

Room 213 in the Education Wing of the Parish Center
6th and 7th grade youth participate in a 2-year class that acknowledges the gift of gender, celebrates the amazing creative power and potential of these young people, and creates a safe haven in which to explore their faith and beliefs.  They discover their abilities and dig deeper into their spiritual life with prayer, Bible Study, and service.  In addition to classes on the second through fifth Sundays of each month, there are lunch gatherings, overnights, and plenty of fellowship.

At the end of the 7th grade, the youth participate in a rite of passage ceremony called the Rite-13 Ceremony, which is loosely based on the bar/bat mitzvah tradition and is a way for the entire congregation to celebrate the unique gifts and abilities of their young men and women as they begin to take the first steps of independence from their families into their own lives.
