Adults

Christ Church offers year-round programming for adults. Weekly Bible study on Thursdays provides opportunity for ongoing learning. Our annual Lenten Series allows for focused study as we prepare for Holy Week and Easter. Annual events like our Theologian in Residence provide in-depth learning from a renowned and respected scholar. Along with our in-house educational programs, Christ Church also organizes day trips to museums and special events, offers spiritual retreats such as our annual women's retreat, and at times hosts pilgrimages to England and the Holy Land.

Exploring the BCP - Sundays This Summer

Join us every Sunday this summer at 9 AM in Parish Hall A to learn more about the red book that shapes our worship and unites us as Episcopalians. Where did The Book of Common Prayer come from? How long has it been around? How much does it really say about what we believe? Is it the only book? Come participate in conversation about worship, history, belief, community, and what it means to be an Episcopalian!

Faith & Poetry Series – June 20, 27, July 11, & 18

Faith and poetry are cousins. Both explore pathways to a "whole vocabulary that has to do with the inner realm of invisibility," as the poet Jorie Graham puts it. Perhaps faith finds its best expression in the language of poetry. There will be an opportunity to find out on Wednesdays through July 18 from 6:30 to 8 PM in Parish Hall B as the Faith & Poetry course returns. There will be a light supper hosted by our rector followed by a poetry reading and discussion, led by The Rev. David Beresford. On June 20 we will read Ruellia Noctiflora by Marilyn Nelson.

Books, Brew, & Banter

Books, Brew, & Banter meets weekly to read a spiritually uplifting book together, with plenty of time for discussion and laughter.  Join us on Tuesdays in Room 301 at 10:30 AM. New members are always welcome!  Bring a cup of brew and enjoy lots of banter with this group whenever your schedule permits. Currently, the group is reading The Meaning of Jesus by Marcus Borg and N. T. Wright. For more information, please contact Marty Rushlow by filling out this contact form.

Thursday Morning Bible Study

This study is led by The Reverend Ruth Beresford. Following the 6:30 AM Eucharist in the Chapel, books of the Bible are discussed over an informal breakfast in Room 211/212. Each session ends at 8:00 AM. This is an excellent opportunity to take time out of a busy schedule for worship, fellowship, and deepening our knowledge of Scripture. It’s a great way to begin the day.  For more information, please contact The Rev. Ruth Beresford.

Women's Retreat

Each January women in the parish gather for our annual Women's Retreat at Memorial House, the Diocese of Delaware's retreat center in Rehoboth. All enjoy time for quiet reflection as well as lively discussions, sharing, and social time. For more information about this event, please fill out this contact form.
