Church School Elizabeth Elliott Minister for Christian Formation
Our spiritual commitment to our children and youth is deep at Christ Church. We recognize that as members of the body of Christ, we are responsible for the development of faith in our children and youth. Baptism is the beginning of a life journey of faith. As the needs of each child change during their life, we meet those needs in different ways. We uphold the Children's Charter for the Church, and we strive to adhere to its guidelines. Specifically, the Children's Charter calls us to receive, nurture, and treasure each child as a gift from God. The church is also called to nurture and support families in caring for their children, acting in their children's best interest, and recognizing and fostering their children's spirituality and unique gifts. Finally, in ministry of the child, the church is called to foster community beyond the family unit, in which children and adults know each other by name, minister to each other, and are partners together in serving Christ in the world.
Adults and children in kindergarten and older worship together at a Family Eucharist at 9 AM, while preschoolers, infants through 4-year-olds, meet for classes during this service. A playgroup setting is available for these children at 10:10 AM while parents and siblings participate in Christian Formation. Classes for those in kindergarten and older meet from 10:10 to 11 AM each Sunday during the fall, winter, and spring.
During the summer months, child care and Christian Formation are offered for those 6 and younger.
