Speaking the Truth in Love: Christian Conversation - March 21 How we talk to each other is important. Words have the power to heal and the power to hurt. Much of the real violence that occurs in our midst is verbal rather than physical. As Christians committeed to embodying God's love, how do we talk with one another, especially when we are feeling strong emotions such as anger, hurt, fear, or sadness? Healthy, constructive communication is a special skill that must be learned and practiced. Join Russ Bohner in Parish Hall A from 10:00 to 10:50 AM for an in-depth discussion of the particular and practical characteristics of Christian speech.

Thursday Morning Bible Study
This study is led by The Reverend Ruth Lawson Kirk. Following the 6:30 AM Eucharist in the Chapel, books of the Bible are discussed over an informal breakfast in Room 211/212. Each session ends at 7:45 AM. This is an excellent opportunity to take time out of a busy schedule for worship, fellowship, and deepening our knowledge of Scripture. It’s a great way to begin the day.
Books, Brew, and Banter
Books, Brew, & Banter meets weekly to read a spiritually uplifting book together, with plenty of time for discussion and laughter. The group is reading The Faith Club, a dialogue among three women of different faiths: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Join us on Tuesdays in the Commons Room at 10:30 AM. New members are always welcome! Bring a cup of brew and enjoy lots of banter with this group whenever your schedule permits! For more information, contact the Church Office.
Women's Dialogue Group - May 10
Paying attention to children, spouse, household, and career all place demands on a woman. How can she find God at the center of it all? Join Ruth Kirk and Catherine Dolan in an offering for women of the parish and preschool. The Women’s Dialogue will meet on Monday, May 10 at 7 PM in the Commons Room. Participation is limited to 20, so be sure to RSVP.
Education for Ministry
Education for Ministry EFM is a program of theological education-at-a-distance offered by the School of Theology of the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. Every baptized person is called to ministry, and EFM provides people with the education to carry out that ministry. During the Service of Confirmation, we ask God to "Renew in these your servants the covenant you made with them at Baptism. Send them forth in the power of the Spirit to perform the service you set before them." EFM offers an opportunity to discover how to respond to the call to Christian service. Students sign up one year at a time for this 4-year program, and the years do not have to be completed consecutively. The program covers the basics of a theological education in the Old and New Testaments, church history, liturgy, and theology. Students meet once a week for 34 weeks per academic year in seminars under the guidance of trained mentors. The program grants a certificate at the completion of the four years and 18 Continuing Education Units for each year’s work. While EFM is on hiatus at Christ Church, it is offered at other area Episcopal churches. To express an interest in participating in this program, please contact The Rev. Russ Bohner for more information.
